Detainee dies at Camp Bucca
BAGHDAD, Iraq -- A 30-year-old male detainee at Camp Bucca died from an apparent 
heart attack at approximately 6 p.m., May 14.

Medics responded to one of the compounds where a detainee was complaining of 
chest pains and quickly moved the detainee to the hospital. The detainee 
experienced cardiac seizure and died after life-saving procedures failed to 
resuscitate him. An attending physician pronounced him dead at 6 p.m. at the 
hospital. The detainee had been detained at Camp Bucca since December 2004 as a 
security threat to Iraq.

The remains will be transferred to the family upon completion of an autopsy. 
This is standing procedure for all detainees who die while in custody of the 
Multi-National Force.

Camp Bucca is located in the southeastern region of Iraq and holds more than 
6,000 detainees.

The incident is currently under investigation.
